Real friends – who are they?

Do you have real friends in your life?
Do you recognize the real friends from the acquaintances?
Do you recognize the friends from the duty relationships?
Do you recognize the friends from the people who just need something from you?

Real friends aren’t around every day, sometimes you don’t see them for days, months, or even years, but when you do see them, it is like as though you saw them yesterday.

Real friends don’t blame, they don’t try and make you feel guilty. Real friends accept you for you.

Real friends love you, listen to you, laugh with you and you with them.

Life is simple with real friends.
Relationships flow with real friends.

If you are forcing friendships, feeling guilty in your friendships, feeling unbalanced in your friendships, then these are not real friends. It might be something to think about….

I have a few real friendships that have lasted time and distance.

I treasure them. Yes I can only count them on 1 hand and I am happy about that, as they are real friends.

Patience – can you buy it at the supermarket?

I said to my Mother once years ago, “Mum I wasn’t born with patience?”  She said “no you weren’t!”  So armed with that information, I wandered to the supermarket and scanned the shelves to buy patience?  You can buy many things in life, new outfit, food, headache tablet to relieve pain, can you buy patience?

I hate to say it but the answer is no – you cant buy patience.

But you can find it.

Have I found it?

Yes, no and sometimes.

When I was younger I didn’t have patience, couldn’t find it at all.

Over time, I learned some skills to be patient. I learned to not get emotionally triggered by stuff. I learned to observe life. I learned to be present in the moment. I learned to gather the wisdom from situations. I learned to be in my authenticity – doing what is right for me.

There are still times I seem to lose patience, it occurs when my focus goes onto tomorrow rather than now.

My best advice is this, you wont find patience on the supermarket shelf,

but you can find it today, right now, by being focused on ‘what is’ going on for you right now. It is that simple.

Mean to dream?

Do you dream?  Do you remember your dreams? Do you know what you dreams mean?

Dreams are powerful messages from your higher self or guides, to help you on your path and make choices in life.

Now don’t go rush out and buy a dream decoding book, because that wont work.

Every bodies dreams are different, so a one size book does not fit all.  We are all different, having different experiences.  There are things that we like or don’t like compared to others, we watch different movies, eat different foods etc.  You have your own dream decoding book within your head.  It is about helping you to access it.

As soon as you wake up in the morning write your dream down. If you don’t remember your dream, then maybe you are not meant to.   If the dream is really memorable and you think about it all day, this dream is really important for you.

Here is my dream decoding advice:

  • Note the theme of the dream.  Themes can be planes, or movie stars, or motorbikes.  You might get multiple dreams about the same themes.

  • Work out what the theme (plane, movie star, motorbike) means to you.  A plane might mean work for example.
  • Dreams are symbolic, so as well as themes, other symbols will appear in your dreams.  For example bread may mean money to you, or a motorbike might symbolize freedom and balance.
  • Begin to develop your own dream theme and symbol meanings, write them down.
  • Understand the dream is a message that is a metaphor just for you, a story coded especially for you.
  • Interpret what you think the dream is saying for you. A book really won’t help you here.
  • A couple of days or weeks after the dream, see if it helped you in life.

It is exciting to have a dream and recognise its message.  Why not give it a go, remember no one else is dreaming your dreams, just you.

Looking at the world through new lenses.

Have you seen the world today?

Was it the same as yesterday?

Will it be the same tomorrow?

My world had changed, I knew it, but I didn’t realize how much my world had changed.  I recently got my eyes tested and to my shock, I needed distance glasses as well as reading glasses.

Getting a new set of glasses is like a metaphor for life.  Things change, we grow wiser, older and more experienced.   All of a sudden without us realising we begin to see the world differently.

This difference can make us uncomfortable, we have to learn how to see the world from a new perspective.

Old behaviours don’t work anymore.  New beahviours are required and as many of us know, old habits are hard to change.

Finding out that what you thought you were seeing was in fact not real, can rock your foundations.

So be open to really seeing the world differently.  Be open to changing the way you see, hear and experience the world.   I am learning to look through a strange set of lenses and see my new world.

Re-entry and reconnection

Walking the wayMy husband and I just have returned from walking the “Way of St James”, an 850klm pilgrimage across Spain for 2 months..  Each day we peacefully put one foot in front of the other and enjoyed the slow pace and simple life that a pilgrimage is.

ReentryNow upon returning home, we are in re-entry and reconnection mode.

Does home feel like home?  Yes it does and no it doesn’t .

As we re-enter our city and commence shopping and doing the things that needed to be done, do we feel comfortable?  No we don’t.  It is faster, noiser, more complex than we have been used to over the last two months.

As we reconnect with family and friends, is it the same or different, are we the same or different?  No we different and yet the same still.

So how do you cope with re-entry?

Slowly, is my answer.  There is an easing back into life.

It takes time. It takes a reconciliation about what you need to take from your journey and incorporate into your life now. Red wine in SpainWe enjoyed drinking chilled red wine in Spain every day, so now our red wine is in the fridge.  We enjoyed drinking coffee everyday, so we have commenced drinking coffee and are easing back into drinking tea.

There is an easing in of new ways of living and an easing into the old ways of living, but now with new perceptions and wisdoms of the old ways.

How long will re-entry or reconnection take?

As long as it takes, by putting one foot in front of the other.

Countdown is on

Sometimes as we look forward to some things in our lives, we can wish our lives away whilst counting down until we get to our big goal.

STS-129_Launch_Countdown_SignI am 10 days away from going on our 800klm pilgrimige across Spain.  I am trying not to count down the days, but I feel like I am at a loose end.  I don’t feel like watching movies, there are only so many times you can clean the house.  I am just waiting…….

It is exciting to be getting ready for something big.

There have been many times throughout our lives where we may have counted down the days.  Going to school, getting married, starting a new job, buying a house or even having a baby.

So instead of counting down I am savouring the moments.  Noticing the weather, the sky, the sunrise, the temperature.  Visiting important people in my life before I go.

Oh dear I just cant help myself, 10 days and counting…. Tracy x

When is going backwards actually going forwards.

For about 5 months now, I have been training 6 days a week to walk the Camino.  An 800klm walk across Spain.  Now that sounds fantastic.  But it hasn’t always been 6 days,  there are times when I have been away overseas working, so when I have returned, I have jumped back into to my 6 day a week routine.  It was developing my fitness, stamina and muscle memory.

We are now down to the last 2 weeks before we go on the big journey and my training has taken a 180 degree turn backwards.

I have been away overseas for 2 weeks and was planning to jump back into my training give or take a day from jet lag, I found myself doing the exact opposite.

Nothing…….My whole body seized up.  I couldn’t move. I thought how am I going to carry a backpack and walk 800klms for 2 months with a body like this.

There were a couple of things I could do.  Panic, get really upset, cry lots, or even push through.  I decided none of these were useful.  I kept hearing a voice inside my head saying “Trust you’ve done the work”.

I decided to go a get a massage to ease my tense muscles.  OMG.   I am quite sensitive at the best of time, but I knew I needed to make sure all the knots in my body were released.

She tried to bend me like a pretzel, but I was like a metal pole that wouldn’t bend.

I would have thought that after the massage I would be freely moving, no I was wrong.  Still moving backwards.

I was layed up for 3 days sore, aching, feeling sick, with a nice deep chesty cough but then also not layed up because I was sore and aching and couldn’t get comfortable enough to sleep.

Again I keep hearing a voice saying,  “Trust you’ve done the work”.

So the universe has conspired to move me backwards, so I can move forwards on my journey and they are asking me to trust that going backwards is going forwards right now.

So I am moving backwards for now and I am okay with that.  I am not doing anything besides have another couple of massages to totally loosen my body up and trust deeply I have done the work!

Are you plugged into your power outlet?

Have you ever really found a place where you were truly energised by it?  Where you felt plugged in?  Where there was a source of power that you were connected to?

Single-10A-Power-OutletI have found my power outlet.

It is in the Middle East.  Why there you ask?

plug_sillitoe_2It is a place where I once lived, not in this life but a past life, my last past life before now and I know that to be true.

The great thing about finding this place is, you will come across it unexpectedly when you are ready.  And when you are ready, your life will change. However, you may not have to go overseas to find it.

So what happens when you find it?  You become balanced.  You become whole.  You become aligned.  You become one with all things.

There is a sense of comfort, a sense of home, a sense of quiet and a sense of peace.

There is understanding.  There is wisdom.  There is time and no time.

To give you a hint about what to notice if you find your power outlet, you will feel it in the whole of your being on every cell when you are there and you will know it to be true.

Plugged in.  Tracy xx

90 will you get there?

Meet Edna, she turns 90 tomorrow and is my amazing wonderful Aunt and God Mother.  She is a woman who is wise, compassionate, generous loving soul who has opened her heart and house to many people in need.

Edna opened her house and heart to me when I was in need.  I was separated from my first husband, she took me in and allowed me to live with her and heal.  For that I am extremely grateful.

She has taught me many things, live in the moment, do not worry, enjoy life and reward yourself because you have worked hard for it.  Eat well and drink champagne no matter what the time of day, because it’s good for you.

She is an amazing master porcelain artist and still paints to this day. She has shown me creativity at its best.  Here is some of her beautiful work that I have around my home.

Over the years we have spent some great times together.  We go to the movies, shows, have great chats about politics and religion.  I take her Christmas shopping every year and we now shop monthly for her heavy things.  Although she has 2 bionic knees she still gets around quite well.

She has demonstrated that love, an open heart and forgiveness can create a wonderful life.  She has had her ups and downs in life as we all do, she is a survivor of cancer and her husband passed away over 25 years ago.

Edna is a role model, open minded, caring and loving and I hope I am half the woman she is.  Much love to you Aunty Ed.

When do your underpants become a luxury?

I travel to Abu Dhabi quite a lot to work.  I always take my work in my carry on luggage so that if there is a problem I will always be able to do my job.  I have the most important ‘need’ with me.

This journey my suitcase didn’t make it to Abu Dhabi with me.  The workshop I was conducting would be fine, I just ‘needed’ to buy some clothes to wear to work, toothbrush and underpants.  Just my basic ‘needs.’  The morning of work I rang the airline and my bag had been sent back to Brisbane not onto Abu Dhabi and would take another day to get here.  Oh dear….I thought.  I would have to buy another outfit and underpants for the next day.

Nomadic tribal people only carry what they ‘need’.  This is a great lesson I had already learnt, it is about letting go of stuff that you don’t ‘need’ in life that doesn’t serve any purpose.  It allows you to live a simple life.

I have understood the lesson between needs verses wants in the past too, but this lesson went deeper this time.  This time, I realised my underpants were a luxury!

To my surprise when I returned home from work on my first day my bag had arrived.  It was like a long lost friend that had come back into my life. I had so many things to choose from.  I was so happy, I even changed my clothes.

I realised that my ‘needs’ were in fact the luxuries of my life, they gave me a feeling of abundance and I had great appreciation for all that I have.

I also realised that my thoughts about ‘wanting’ to fly business class on my long haul flight home were ludicrous.  As long as my ‘needs’ are met, I am abundant, in the flow of life.

Do you really appreciate what you ‘need’, do you see it as a luxury in your life?

Only when everything is taken away can we really appreciate the true essence of our ‘needs’ as our life’s luxuries.

Taking only that which I need……Tracy x
